Development Cycle

Since Siegescape is an indie title, a Kickstarter campaign will help fund the finalization of the game and potentially allow further development of components of the game that will help expand the eventual experience. The build of the game will follow the design schedule listed below:

  • The ALPHA build of the game will release as a demo to the general public (although likely in a limited format)--this will coincide with the Kickstarter campaign to allow players to get hands-on with the initial build of the game and make an informed decision on whether or not they want to help fund the project.

    • This build will showcase 2 enemy fortresses, about 2-3 square miles of explorable terrain, and will house all the features of the final game. It will be free to everyone to try out in their own homes.

    • There is no official determination on how the demo will be made available--this will be determined closer to the actual release of the demo and the Kickstarter campaign.

    • Expected by 3rd-4th Quarter, 2017

  • The BETA build of the game will release on either Steam (or a platform like Steam) and will be available for both PC and Mac users.

    • This build will contain every element of the game as well as the full SINGLE-PLAYER CAMPAIGN.

      • The single-player campaign will be about 10-15 times the size of the playable demo (ALPHA build) and will house more than 12 distinct fortresses that vary in level of challenge. As you progress through the game, you will unlock parts of the main story that help explain what is happening around you--furthermore, there are hidden areas of the game that, if found, will delve into some of the backstory of the main character.

    • Expected by 2nd Quarter, 2018

  • Depending on the success of the Kickstarter campaign and the total of acquired funding (or stretch goals), the BETA build  may also include:

    • A single-player campaign ("Sandbox" mode) utilizing the infinite, procedurally-generated version of the game engine. In essence, this mode will randomly spawn all the terrain, resources, enemy encampments, and so on in an infinite, sandbox-type world that the player can explore at their leisure.

    • Multi-player functionality--all (or at least most) of the aspects of the single-player campaign will be included on a standard-sized map wherein multiple online players can build, craft, and engage in warfare over their respective fortresses.

  • Once the BETA build of the game has released on its respective platform, the game will continue to evolve through bug-fixes, patches and possible expansions based solely on the feedback and experience of its players.

  • PRICING: Although a final price has been set, the game is meant to be an enjoyable experience for everyone, so the price-point will be relatively low. It will likely fall somewhere in the $10 - $20 range, so as to not detract from the possibility of a large, diverse community. The bigger and more inclusive a community is, the greater likelihood that the game will be enjoyable for all.

  • Make sure you follow the development of the game to not miss out on any additional features or information: YouTube , Twitch , Facebook , Twitter
